Are you kidding me, Father?

On this day of your life, Shawn, we believe God wants you to know ... that how bad things may look right now means nothing, - it's how good they can be with God's help that counts.
In life you can absolutely count on one thing, - everything can turn around in one day, in one minute sometimes. Don't you dare to give up, - you might be a moment away from a windfall.

"You think its as easy as snapping my fingers? The temptation was never about what that was spoken. It was about you. You think i think too much? That's because your dad sets such a high benchmark for me to overcome. I want you, and I want you to be happy"

A chain of unexpected events...

"So there you go, an unexpected all expense settled trip to the KLCC bridge, a portable fire extinguisher, a meet up with an old fren, meeting up with radio people, gathering and meeting up the hottest chic on my FB list.... And to top it up, I already have plans set up for Deepavalli, Christmas and New Years day countdown already. Seriously, an oversea trip, a pending oversea trip and a visit from a close friend from oversea.

Just when you think life can't get any better, it does. Just wish that i have more time to fit it all."

Let me start of with Wednesday (I am still overwhelmed by the presence of Ipad). Okay, anyway, I was involved with Malaysian Insurance Institute for the training. At the end of the day, an ad-hoc visit to the KLCC bridge was included as MII's value added entertainment. FOC and I don't have to make the 3 hour queue for it. Being a KL boy, I am embarrassed that I took 13 years to step foot there.
Riding the elevator

At the bridge
More pix....

At the final day of training, it included a visit to Fire Fighter Sdn Bhd, a company established by my uni mate. I haven't seen her since I took over her Melbourne room 4 years ago. At the end of the day, I got a gift from her.. N here goes...

1 kg ABC powder portable fire extinguisher.. lol... Market price RM75

Her family is also involved in setting the Fullhouse at Sunway Giza, her mum invited me and Suet Li to have lunch at the restaurant. Little did i realize that it was a food testing with some radio people from One, Fly and Hot FM people... The food was fantastic. Not only that it is, those food are specially cooked and it's off the menu food...

The restaurant (Not my pic)
The people..
And it doesn't end there, my "mami" came over with the Singapore people for the a low profile gathering. We had happy hour at KL Life, and went up for Japanese and then 2nd round of Happy hour at Overtime. After which, i brought them to A&W for curly fries and bring them for their to die for maggi goreng and back to Ascott. The best thing is, I am seeing them again plus the hottest FB chic ever tmrw... Hehe.. Can't wait, Joyce Chow @ Times Square... And I am already having other plans in the morning with my family, evening a full month party, midnite, a sing k session... Busy busy busy...

October 24th update...

To top it all up, i went to Hong Kong for 6 days. Once i set foot back in Malaysia, i received 3 emails inviting me for an interview on Monday, and then a wedding reception tonite and a KPI to do immediately on Monday morning.... Unexpected events set to continue..

The Singapore day

I have got so much to blog... I start off with my ONE day Singapore trip. Objective of trip BUSINESS...

Once i walked out of Changi terminal 1, i saw burger king breakfast, with pork BACON. PORK, i tell you.. I knew i had to have it..

The Enormous Omelette Sandwich (2 sandwich bread stuffed with scramble eggs, a piece of meat and a slice of bacon)...

And with an additional of S$0.80, you get the mini hash browns (it was cute)
And so, i went for "business". As I was already informed, I will be meeting 5 different people to discuss about my business. Each for an hour including one teleconference discussion with the Australia side of the business. Anyway, the business went perfectly well. They said they want the business to be done, and I wanted more money from it. The best thing is, I even got my scheduled Korea trip in March next year fitted perfectly in between the business. The best part is, I got free ramen lunch and also my air ticket reimbursed in cash. The business deal completed early, so i had time and the extra CASH for shopping. And so......

Tada...... The Ipad

Such a busy time

Haha.. Apart from my internet being down-ed for the past week... I was damn blardy busy... But the best part is I've now been away from the office since day one of the month... I had been to Malaysian Re @Damansara Heights training for the past one week... The Fire Risk Inspection Training is to get all the new risk engineers that recently join the insurance industry to get them ready for site visits, hydraulic calculations and pump tests... After being a risk engineer myself for over 1 and a half year, the training is some what a refreshing course for me... N the best part is, they serve morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea... N the food is really good...

To top things up, I am attending another training this week with Malaysian Insurance Institute on Applying Insurance measures on preventing Property lose.. Sounds boring huh? But that's my job... It's held at Hotel Quality along Raja Laut... And next week, I am departing for Hong Kong... wooo hooooo.....

On a totally unrelated topic, I had my own Octoberfest celebration at Malones @KLCC last Friday. It was jammed pack with the Whites. Somehow, me and my mates found a tiny small table. So, I ordered my Heineken (I am pretty much not a Stout person although Malones is an Irish bar). Then Justin came and told me about this 1 liter of Tiger promotion for the Octoberfest. The part that made me ordered that was the mug. Once you're done with your drink, you can bring the mug home... It was really torturing, with the mug.. it's all worth it...

And it was really really big... See how huge it stands beside a pint of Guinness

Being a risk engineer

I started my career with AIG General Insurance Bhd on the 23rd of March 2009...

I meet clients having financial interest on their properties. Then I am to provide damage risk management which includes protecting them from fire and burglary exposures. I check on their alarm system, fire protection appliances and to ensure that all production is performed in tact with proper occupational health and safety measures.

The good part about having this job is that I have flexible hours. I don't need to be in the office and out of the office on time. I just need to get my reports out in due time. I also get to travel all around Malaysia handling our domestic clients. I get to stay in five star hotels around the country.

I get to see things more than a common guest or a patrons would get to see. For example, when you go to a spa. What you get to see is the facilities such as jacuzzi, massage cubicles, common area, etc. What i get to see is where they hid their "live stocks". Where they normally wait before business starts, how they travel through escape routes during raids and also what the authorities do during a raid. This is all part of my job as I need to understand the risk of the building being damage due to their operations. There was once, I was on the roof of a 25 storey building in KL. And when i say roof, i mean the roof. A roof made asbestos sheets and where there are no side barriers what soever preventing me from falling. The roof is where the live stocks run to during a raid. And to be at the roof, there are some dangerous routes that i need to take. Not dangerous to the extent that I am risking my life, but there could be a high possibility of myself getting injured.

The most funny experience happen recently when I have this encounter of the supernaturals. There is a new shopping cum office mall in the PJ experiencing a severe amount of claims due to their burst of water pipes. Yes, my job also includes understanding the piping system within a building. Okay, back to the story. There is this particular shop (my client) & another has occasional burst of water pipes within their premise. Normally, this could be explain in technical terms due to bottle necks and distribution causing excessive pressure within the pipes. However, there are no technical problems within the pipelines. So why the burst of pipe? Apparently, there are "kids" running the shops during after hours. And having to do my job and to please my curiosity, I had to move in to the "habitat" of the "kids". I finally know what it feels to be near the supernaturals.

There goes...

Random BBQ nite

I am so lazy to separate these.. There r all self explanatory photos anyway.. So here goes...

The BBQ begun with a random phrase from Sin Sin saying "Lets have BBQ"
N so we did on the Friday Raya day...

The beginning of everything
The starting pose moment
The cooking range
Something joined the burnt charcoal
The HD look Sin Sin
This bivalves or whatever you call it, is boiling cooked
The Chicken Wing Man
Lawrence "burnt" chicken wings
And so he graduated
And of course, there will be some soft moments after the completion

My career choice based on my personality

Did a career questionaire online lately... n this was how it goes..

You would be very happy in a career that utilised your level-headedness, and allowed you to work mainly on your own. You want a career that allows you to be creative, without having to be involved with lots of people. Some careers that would be perfect for you are:
  • Artist
  • Historian
  • Banker
  • Novelist
  • University Professor
  • Photographer
  • Vet
  • Paralegal
  • Graphic Designer
  • Online Content Developer
  • Webmaster
  • Producer
  • Managing Director
  • Nutritionist
  • Advertising
  • Nursing

M Night Shyamalan's Devil

To simplify the movie, here it goes...

Select an answer from the options below...
You have A,B,C,D & E

Then u answered, C...

The question then goes...
What if i remove answer 'E'

Then u answered again, C...

The question goes on by removing D & C...
How about now?

So, you then think.. hmmm.... how could C be wrong? Maybe it's A..

Then the question goes on to remove B...

So, you thought at least you got it right the second time...

Then, "tada"... answer C is back....

And the correct answer is C

You’re a stubborn sweetheart... You “love” him/her only because he/she loves you. If his/her flame puts out, you let go with no trouble.
You’re undoubtedly good-natured! Most of the time, people are confident to approach you because they know you will consider them.
Here is the analysis:

Eat to live or live to eat?

Today I read the sme paper’s headline “Eat to live or live to eat?”

I came across this question for the past one month even before seeing the headline. My circumstances are, I work on a basic salary package which means I am paid in an equal amount every month. Day one I get my pay, day two I transfer out approximately 75% of my salary. I pay installments to banks for both my house and car, I pay for Astro that I don’t really watch, electricity, water, house phone bill, house internet bill, personal Handphone bill and also credit card expenses. At the end of the day, I ask myself, what value have I added to myself? I work hard every month, to feed banks, telco companies, Utilities Company, etc etc… I end up with almost nothing. The month would end up a little more miserable if I had overspent on buying some luxury items (watch, football jerseys, ipad, computers, etc) or I went out on a food spending spree.

I think many of us haven’t taken the time to realize the fact that we are earning to make other people especially the big boys in the market to increase their wealth. By working, doesn’t even matter if you’re in sales or in any commission based jobs, the 5-25% of commission doesn’t only mean we are that much richer, it also means that the big boys are getting 75-95% richer. But the system has been in existence for centuries that we all seem to adapt well to it with not much complains. Or there could be some that would prefer to live the day and just spend what they earn. I am good with this system too all this while. I have a degree in engineering plus masters in risk management. I always thought starving would not be an issue. However, given the circumstances of the country, I might be broke as early as the end of the year. Being Malaysians, we are well adapted to another one of our well taught system, the “Yes I know, but what can I do about it? and then we do nothing about it” system. But looking at some of my friends which some did even complete high school earning 5 figures already, once again reminded me how unfair the world is. I am not going to sit here and just whine about all this. The pieces of cake is so huge, I believe I can work my way to a bite or hopefully a bigger slice. So everyone, time to not sit and whine.

One of the better 1Malaysia raps

Racism existed far beyond today.. From day one we are born, we are given the quotes of 'cibai', 'keling' 'otak cina' n so on.... From day one of school, we learn that the chinese is different from the malays, the chinese is different from the indians....

But why suddenly has this racism become an issue? Is 1Malaysia concept reminding us of unity or is just a way someone reminding us about our skin color? The media goes crazy publicizing all these racism issues... Can we go back to the time when we say 'Malaysia is 4 Malaysians', 'Negaraku Malaysia' and not 'You balik Cina lah' and 'Penumpang'... N suddenly all these Perkasa shit protecting the Malay rights. You guys have all the rights, so don't talk shit!!!

Happy Merdeka Malaysia

Just an update of my life...

Got my PCE test out of the way... Got a PASS for the paper... Being the lazy me, i only managed to read 4 of the total 7 chapters... Went in the exam hall, took about 15 minutes to answer 50 mcq(s) and 5 mins to check them and then leave the exam hall...

Internet has been down for the past one week... Finally got it fixed after my PCE test this morning... apparently, lightning can strike modems in a way that it disrupts the settings.. at least this is what the technician say... but i still can't see the logic of it....

Also, I had a chat with Justin Leow from Singapore in Mid Valley after work. His has got a job to offer me in singapore. Without doubt, this is a huge opportunity... The currency, the exposure, switching for a national surveyor into an international surveyor, chance of going back to Australia for work (since i m also helping out the Perth side) and finally away from the MCs... After about a 2 hour chat with him, i realize that they are a very american cultured company meaning its results driven.. I love what he has got to say about the company.. I think there are many things that i can look at from the job offer.. However, being experience what it is to be abroad without my mum, sis, my best buddies... This would be somehow different althou they are probably few hours bus away... Chartis is also currently providing me a great learning curve unlike during the days my previous HoD is in charged... Both is good, money will probably end up as the deciding factor... I would take some time to think about this... Plus there are 2 more candidates up for the job offer in 2 weeks time... But i guess, my presentation of myself is not bad at all... not much hiccups.. n i think i tell him exactly what a person i m, so there is no over-expectation of me... i would work better being motivated rather than being expected... Anyhow the result, we shall see...

One of the better quotes

Quote : "It's a problem being beautiful. It's only the handsome men that ask us out because they're the only ones who think they have a chance. And handsome men are dolts. Life is unfair to us. At some point we have to face the certain reality:Despite all the good the world seems to offer, true happiness can only be found in one thing - shopping" end quote

It is funny how when one door closes... so many more opens... at least for me...

A rude awakening

For the past 4 months, u came, u saw, u conquered... I tried my very best to please you... so much, i realize, i lost myself... finally, things got out of hand.. emo period kicks in...

But i learnt two important things,
1. Cold blooded (not only that you are towards me, but this is what i am going to be)
2. I no longer leave my plate clean

At least, it's clear to me now.. not only that I got myself back.. I realize what I am going to do... Not only in relationship sense.. Things had hit hard on me lately.. I was whining too much..

I am no longer going to whine ever in my life.. I will definitely going to make it happen.. I know what I am going to do to make my career bloom now.. Same as for you.. I know it's probably mission impossible.. But i vow to try my best, not to please you, but to be with you.. Because I love how you make me feel when I am with you.. N you're worth it...

The Docklands Story

Docklands is approximately 30 minutes drive from where "we" used to live. That place has a special meaning to us. It is a place we go to on random, almost all the time. It is our happy place. We go there, sitting down, watching the moon, counting the stars as we let the winter chill wind get into us. We probably chat, but most of the time, we don't. Sitting there is good enough... =) I miss Docklands...

2nd layer

I am blogging about this because i m so overwhelm about the mental kick that my dream gave me. Just cutting it short. Imagine that you dreamt that you got something that u can only ever imagine having it. N in the dream everything seemed so natural. And you woke up from it realizing that it was just a dream. N then the thing repeats itself, you get something that you can only imagine of having AGAIN. *Poof*, and then you wake up realizing that it was a dream again.

N when shit isn't shitting you enough,

You actually tilted your entire body and face a totally different position, and have the entire 2nd layer process all over again. Simplifying it, YES then NO, "oh really?", it's actually YES, and then NO.. N then repeat from step ONE. I actually feared of falling asleep again for the next 5 mins, which seemed like forever..

"Just nice"

Life to me is a bitch when the line is too straight
I always like spicing it up a little
However, spicing it too much will just make it inedible
Spicing it too little is practically stupid

Life to me is a bitch when the line is at the bottom
I hate this as I loses my smile cause that is one thing about me I love the most
I could always hype things up knowing me
But behind that clusters of neurons,
I know it is hanging out at this bottom part of the line which makes me appreciate the top
I just need to toy with with it

Life to me is a bitch when the line is at the top
I always smile
When I smile, the smile-o-meter starts ticking
Putting a count to the number of smiles
Behind that clusters of neurons,
I asked myself, "Is this ever going to end? Because I am bored (not sick) being at the top

Complicated? No, I love it "Just nice"

Conclusion, the thing hiding behind that clusters of neurons is the bastard that is killing me

Me, Myself and I

Being grown up in Pasar Road and Cochrane Road school, I have met a bunch of awesome schoolmates that i still hangout pretty much everyday if not every other day. If there is to be a gathering, assuming that no one goes berpattern pattern, it could easily sum up to 40 people. Having such a huge number of people, it is undeniable of certain conflicts involving girls, money, attitude problem and the list goes on... Hence the number goes down throughout the years. Some left and came back, some brought in their other halves, some left and never came back. Most importantly, the is a group having diversified interests. Interests as in what we love to do.

I would say, I am probably, the ONE of the very few of them that practically enjoys doing anything. Hence this period of me trying to get to understand myself better, I am to list down 30 things that i do... The ratings are based solely on what i would prefer doing rather than i m actually doing it or i m actually good at it...

1* Something I love to do, given that 2* & 3* are not available
2* Something I love to do, and enjoy every second of it, depending on companionship, i might sacrifice a 3* activity happening at the same time
3* Something I love to do, enjoy doing, and will die for, regardless the companion, expenses, etc

1. Partying 3*
2. Singing karaoke 3*
3. Football, Badminton, other sports activities 3*
4. Concerts, gameshows, musical play, stand up comedy 3*
5. Happy Hour and home sessions 3*
6. Planning for formal/informal activities (BBQ, proposing, weddings, bdays) 3*
7. Outdoor activities (Hill climbing, ATV, etc etc..) 3*
8. Travelling 3*
9. Hanging out with gf or a girl that i like 3*
10. Participating in public activities (dancing, acting, singing, etc) 3*
11. Snookering, pool, foosball 3*
12. News reading and sharing 3*
13. Shopping (when i have something to buy includes groceries, groceries is good) 3*
14. Doing anything with the internet (FB, Blog, Twit, Youtube) 3*
15. Yum Cha 2*
16. Adventuring (find new spots to hangout, eat, etc) 2*
17. Doing something religious 1*
18. Joining random or friend's friend for any activities (basically socializing)2*
19. Watching mother nature play (sunrise, sunset, greeneries) 2*
20. Cooking, baking, etc 2*
21. Movie watching 2*
22. Staying at home (anyone's) just watching tv, dvd, playing PS3 1*
23. Gaming (Dota, Fb games, etc.) 1*
24. Gym (Sports that practically stay at on single spot) 1*
25. Gambling (Going up Genting, n now down south) 1*
26. Shopping (randomly without having anything to buy) 1*
27. Clubbing 1* (used to be 2*)
28. Driving around 1*
29. Religious Activities 1*
30. Staying at home doing nothing 1*

Probably some of these wouldn't make sense to be categorized together, but who cares, this is my list

MalaysianRe Team building

I was fortunate to be sent by my manager to join 23 other ppl from different insurance companies around the country for a teambuilding even organized by the MalaysianRe at Eagle Ranch Resort in PD somewhere in June 2010..

Everyone involved plus the two trainers from X Power Management...

It was my first formal team building. Activities include common indoor games, paintball, building a raft and rafting to the middle of the sea capturing flags, flying fox, football, face painting. Those are probably what i could remember of.

Practically, this team building's objective was to learn more to work as a team. What's important to me is that this is an event that helped tell me who i am. This is something i wanted to figure out for a long time.

At the end, i got comments like "You are weird!! I'm still trying to figure you out." "U R so fun + weird! Great to know you"... To sum it up, i got creative, plentiful ideas, smart, funny, weird & unreadable.

The 'Tǔtǔ' Explained

Tǔtǔ is orginates from the Chinese word, 土 (means earth)...

According to Ms. Alice (fortune teller), that i belong to the Gold element... My original name has apparently 'Fire' elements which brings bad luck to 'Gold' a.k.a. me... Thus, i need the 'Earth' element in my name to bring luck to myself... Having said so, I was suppose to write my new chinese name like 100 times a day for 30 days... The lazy me decide to just change my facebook name... n there goes, i became the famous Tutu....

When Lane Merge theme song

A great story from Malaysian Mirror

OLDER VERSION

An ant worked hard in the sweltering heat all summer, building its nest and laying up supplies for the winter.

A grasshopper thought the ant was stupid not knowing how to enjoy life. It spent its days laughing, singing & dancing thoroughly enjoying the summer.

Came winter, the ant was warm, comfortable and had no shortage of food.

The grasshopper had no proper shelter, no stored food, and couldn't find anything to eat from the snow-covered ground. So it died and the story ended.

Moral of the story: Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION

An ant worked hard in the sweltering heat all summer, building its nest and laying up supplies for the winter.

A grasshopper thought the ant was stupid not knowing how to enjoy life. It spent its days laughing, singing & dancing thoroughly enjoying the summer.

Came winter, the shivering grasshopper called a press conference and demanded to know why the ant should be warm and well fed while he was cold and starving.

TV1, TV2 & TV3 showed up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper alongside to a video clip of the ant in his comfortable home with a table full of food.

The majority of the Malaysian parliamentarians were stunned by the sharp contrast. How could this poor grasshopper be allowed to suffer?

Khairy staged a demonstration in front of the ant's nest.

Nazri went on a hunger strike along with other grasshoppers demanding that they be relocated to warmer climate area during winter.

The Malaysian Government immediately passed a law forbidding all ants from working hard in the summer so as to bring about equality of poverty between ants and grasshoppers.

Muhyiddin increased 'More Special Reservations' for grasshoppers in educational institutions & in government services..

The ant was fined for failing to share 30% of his food with the grasshopper. The PM announced that this was part of the NEP. No ant should question it. (Don't forget, Tax Audits were introduced and targeted at certain individuals who were eventually penalised heavily for not contributing enough to the well-being of the grasshoppers).

Many years later...

Some ants migrated to the US and other countries, and set up multi-billion dollar companies there.

Hundreds of grasshoppers still died of starvation despite the 'More Special Reservations'.

Losing significant number of hard working ants and free loading the grasshoppers, Malaysia remained a developing country, despite its abundant natural resources.

All because the remaining ANTS were still doing their work ...

Latest finding showed that almost all the grasshoppers in the political arena and civil service were hoarding corrupt wealth which they refused to share with fellow grasshoppers.

Moral of the story: How to crisp grasshoppers who eat your heart out!

LATEST (VERSION 3)

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

Channels 7, 9 and 10, the ABC and SBS show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

Australia is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.'

Acorn stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, 'We shall overcome.' Cardinal George Pell then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Prime Minister Rudd condemns the ant and blames John Howard, Robert Menzies, Capt James Cook, and the Pope for the grasshopper's plight.

Bob Brown exclaims in an interview on Today Tonight that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and calls for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, Labour in conjunction with the Greens draft the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.
The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and once peaceful, neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: You decide in the 13th general election.

This was published because we believe that you are an ant – not a grasshopper! Make sure that you pass this on to other ants. Don't bother alerting any grasshoppers because they wouldn't understand it, anyway.
